The comparative collection of the contemporary vascular plants (with palynological collection) is widely used in palaeobotanical studies. It incorporates collections of: fruits and seeds (about 27 000), palynological slides (about 20,000) composing kind of a pollen/spore herbarium, leaves (about 5,000 sheets), cuticle preparations (about 600; type of collection rarely preserved in the scientific institutions), wood samples (251 pieces and 311 anatomical preparations), and peat samples (283 tissue preparations and 307 peat units preparations).
