From the Institute’s activities

The Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences was established on November 19, 1953 as the Institute of the History of Material Culture of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 1992, the name of the Institute was changed to its present name. The basis of the Institute's activities is archaeological research. The IAE PAS has several branches and scientific stations in Poland, including laboratory supports. Archaeological and ethnological research is carried out not only in Poland, but also in cooperation with many international centres.
