Opis:

Fotografie przedstawiające mieszkańców Gudżartu i Radżistanu oraz pakistańskiej prowincji Sind. Szeroki wybór zdjęć przedstawia krajobraz, budynki, przestrzenie wiejskie, portrety, wybrane obrzędy, ubiory codzienne jak i odświętne oraz ikonografię. Wykonano je w latach 1989, 1992, 1994 i 1996. Jest to zapis pracy etnografa, jak również miejsc – wsi i świątyń, w których był przyjmowany prof. Dagnosław Demski. Zdjęcia stanowią cenny zapis zmiany profesji, porzucenie starych zabudowań oraz zmianę tradycyjnego ubioru

Opis obiektu:

Photo (scan from slide). The photo shows a fragment of the shepherds' wedding ceremony. At the end of the wedding, the brahmin priest sits in the place where the ritual was previously performed. Right behind it you can see metal eating utensils and a water pitcher. In front of him sits a group of women wedding guests, in traditional costumes of rabari shepherds. Guests are dressed in festive costumes, women in characteristic long black shawls with red dots. Young women are decorated with silver jewelry to indicate their married status. For the duration of the ceremony, the young couple are tied together with a 'holy' rope. In the case of rabari shepherds, the altar is a fire lit by the priest, which the young couple then surrounds.
