- flint structure is crypto- or micro-crystalline, sometimes patchy, spherulitic relict-organogenic; fauna remains visible in the matrix are most often sponge needles (spiculae), rarerly foraminifera tests and radiolaria shells; coloured in different shades of brown; visible cloudiness; on their surface also small spots of differet shapes
