Siliceous Rocks

Siliceous rocks are a group of sedimentary rocks containing more than 50% SiO (silicon dioxide) of organic or chemical origin. They were a basic raw material for manufacture of tools and weapons by prehistoric communities from the Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age. They are divided into: flints, radiolarites, cherts and obsidians. Each siliceous rock was photographed and a 3D model was additionally created for selected specimens.
