Abstract:

The paper focuses on the invariance property of root-locus diagrams. In particular, it has been shown that the same root locus can be described by different equations, and that the rules for constructing a root locus can be expressed in terms of each of these representations. This property is exploited to find the locus asymptotes when the usual rule for their determination cannot be applied and show how the locus behaves at points where two or more locus branches intersect.
