The wavelet transform is one of the well-known tools, used for signal processing and modelling, and being applied to various types of data. In this paper, a wavelet model is introduced to describe the wind velocity and gusts of wind. The analysis is concentrated on the discrete wavelet transform, based on the Haar and Daubechies wavelets. The goal is to approximate the data by wavelets as well as to ‘denoise’ them by thresholding.
