The way the village renewal has changed was conditioned by%C2%A0changing approaches to%C2%A0rural areas development. At the same time%2C the role of local resources in rural development concepts has been different and changed according to%C2%A0the concepts. The above%5C-mentioned are overlaid by%C2%A0the issue of the use of local resources in village renewal actions. That issue has also been dynamic in the history of village renewal. There is no doubt that those three subjects %5C(village renewal%2C rural development and local resources%5C)%2C strongly correspond to%C2%A0each other. We%C2%A0have decided to%C2%A0undertake the description of these relations in order to%C2%A0systematise the state of art in the common ground for these three issues. The main aim of the paper wasto%C2%A0present the embeddedness of village renewal in rural development paradigms%2C partly in regional%5C%2Flocal development paradigms%2C and in other scientific concepts%2C as well as to%C2%A0present the role of local resources in village renewal processes over the years. The paper%2C based on literature review%2C is theoretical and open to%C2%A0further debate. The considerations included in the paper indicate that village renewal bases on local resources and simultaneously strengthens them. Local resources are recognised as key in regional%5C%2Flocal development. In the light of current scientific concepts%2C it is a%C2%A0local community who shall decide about the utilisation of these resources%2C which could use external instruments for this purpose.%22]
