The asymmetryof environmental conditions means the timberline has formed in two extreme environments%5C: on the sunny and gentle southern slope %5C(40%25 of the timberline length%5C) and on the cold%2C humid%2C steep northern slope %5C(another40%25 of the timberline length%5C). The southern slope of the ridge shows a progressive timberline length of 86%25. In turn%2C 81%25 of the timberline on the northern slope is in a stable ecotone.%22]
