Search for: [Abstract = %22The article concerns the area of urban and rural commune of Rzg%C3%B3w%2C which neighbours %C5%81%C3%B3d%C5%BA in the south. The main aim of the research is the application of the %E2%80%9Cfunction of the place%E2%80%9D conception and its empirical particularisation in the analyses of a specific multipurpose rural area located within the suburban area of a large city. The function of the place conception constitutes a platform of integration between the functional%2C morphological and humanistic approaches at the level of individual settlement. The category of place%2C interpreted from the viewpoint of people%E2%80%99s needs%2C and not only the economic and spatial dimensions of localisation seems to be in this case of key importance. This conception does not only aim at ordering and determining the research procedure%2C but also plays a heuristic role%2C i.e. it supports discovering facts and connections between them%2C which in turn leads to formulating explanations and new hypotheses. Ordering of the research procedure with reference to the commune%E2%80%99s area under analysis requires identification of three main aspects %5C(dimensions%5C) of place%E2%80%99s function%5C: its form%2C exploitation and social meaning. The research has been conducted from three spatial perspectives%5C: local %5C(the area of commune%5C)%2C meso%5C-regional %5C(the agglomeration of %C5%81%C3%B3d%C5%BA%5C) and macro%5C-regional %5C(Poland%5C). The author has paid particular attention to the local scale %E2%80%93 the commune of Rzg%C3%B3w within its administrative boarders. The conclusions reached%2C refer to the research subject itself %5C(Poland%5C)%2C yet they are also theoretical in character. A commune is a dynamic place and due to ongoing processes can be divided into subareas %5C(rural and urbanised rural%5C). Two groups of functions %E2%80%93 allochtonic and autochtonic %E2%80%93 play a decisive role is these transformations. The former has had an influence on the establishment of urban %5C(the town of Rzg%C3%B3w%5C) and urbanised rural places. The latter%2C on the other hand%2C decides upon formation of multipurpose places with strong rural attributes.%22]
