TY - GEN N1 - 29 cm N2 - The work described here has sought to determine soil water content change and its relation with the change in the main agro-climate forming meteorological elements for the 1981-2010 period in comparison with the 1951-1980 one. Changes in the main meteorological elements, which lead to spoiled agrometeorological conditions in the second half of the 20th century over the Bulgaria, were identified. These trends are confirmed in the climatic scenarios for future changes through to 2050 and 2070. Since broad spectrum of key players in society associate economic development with entrepreneurship, the perception of individuals and entrepreneurs on latter within Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia is researched. Source data on entrepreneurial attitudes, perceptions, activities and entrepreneurship framework conditions are taken from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2014, in order to conduct comparative analysis of mentioned four countries between themselves and in comparison with the EU averages. This analysis shows the overall economic climate for entrepreneurship on the country level. This disadvantage is caused mainly by smaller population densities, greater distances from urban markets as well as information, work, education, and most other resources. Seen from the perspective of the rural areas the Internet means a possibility of equal development chances between the rural and city inhabitants. Access to the Internet means availability of work (telework), administration, education, services offered on-line that are impossible to obtain elsewhere, of different kinds of databases, entertainment as well as contact with other users. Thus, both social and economic aspects can be distinguished. These aspects can be studied in the digital divide context, which the authors try to investigate in this paper. These resources located in the northern part of the Zgierz district might serve as a developmental boost for both the Rogóźno area and the entire region. A multitude of resources, however, poses a threat of the emergence of conflicts. The use of the resources of the salt dome and waters: mineral, thermal and therapeutic is in opposition to the exploitation of lignite deposits. Low awareness of public opinion is reflected in the NIMBY syndrome in relations to planned investments. The paper offers a reflection about the developments at the top of geographic and social scientific research as well as a reference to the agenda of spatial planning and politics. Therefore this article focuses on theoretical aspects of the “fluid society” but emphasizes also the need to learn from empirical insights and practical issues in the context of Polish-Swiss cooperation projects. It concludes however, that regional spaces under the auspices of modern flows are not unicoloured. That wants to say: they are not passive entities of modernisation, but keep their manifold, multicoloured characteristics – and these characteristics interact in the form of identities, cohesion and the natural backdrop with significant effects on those flows, enabling and steering modernisation strategies, and deciding about successes or failures of investments into traffic, tourism and economies. By that they shape the flows from and into peripheral regions. Within Europe, the 2014 Directive establishing a framework for maritime spatial planning (MSP Directive), which requires EU coastal member states to have marine spatial plans in place by 2021, also requires that MSP authorities should explicitly take into account land-sea interactions. This has stimulated a new phase of investigation into land-sea interactions in Europe. This paper aims to contribute to marine and coastal planning debates by reflecting on one of these investigations, the Maritime Spatial Planning and Land Sea Interactions (MSP-LSI) project. The paper starts by providing a historical overview of the growing attention being paid to LSI within the context of European policy making. This sets the context for the MSP-LSI project and the approach to exploring land-sea interactions it developed is outlined. The paper then uses examples from the project’s case study investigations to highlight and illustrate some of the wider insights the project revealed, both in relation to the extensive spatial footprint associated with selected maritime sectors and how marine space is being shaped by, and contributing to landward activity and governance agendas. It concludes by presenting a case not only for adopting a ‘one space’ perspective in MSP, but in territorial spatial planning and management regimes more generally.
