Description:

Photography (scan from a slide). The photo shows a group of shepherds kachchi rabari singing at the ceremony of paying homage to pir at tomb of a Muslim saint (pir) located a short distance from the village. In the foreground you can see men and children walking in procession from the village to the tomb. They carry the green flag, play the drums and sing. These types of sites with buried bodies is many in Rajasthan and buried there "saints" are given different terms (pir, miyan). They are also characterized by a divine power that comes from the body of the saint, and thus visited by Muslims but also by Hindus
