Description:

Photography (scan from a slide). In the picture is visible way through the field, and on it a woman dressed in black - a skirt, jacket, long woolen veil over her head with embroidered patterns (which defines women in the kachchi). Picture was taken during the rite of Vachchada Dada. It takes place in the middle of the day (Kartik Sud, first Monday), rather than the other after dark. Participants gather around the shrine which is lying in the field - men sit on the shrine, sing and play, and women are sitting on the ground. It is also an opportunity to give the names of children who were born during the year. During the ceremony, one of the helpers take another baby on the hands, and bhopa, a type of medium in a red turban, falls into a trance and give children names
