Opis:

Photography (scan from a slide). Memorial stones (paliya) is set to commemorate a specific person suddenly died. They are usually placed at the border of the village or towns. They are made of stone, on which are engraved symbols identifying the person and the signature of the local language (Gujarati here). There are some symbols (rider on a horse or a camel, a shrine, a female figure, hands raised up). Hand raised up points to the tragic death of a woman. At the top are round shapes represent the sun and the moon. The image shows four examples of images, from left - hand raised, the figure of a woman with raised arm, a man on horseback with the lance and a woman with a child. The custom of placing stones post-mortem is known all over the Indian subcontinent
