Photography (scan from a slide). In the foreground sits Brahmin ( panda), who stores the data of pilgrims visiting Allahabad (Hindu name for Prayag city ) during the holyday Kumbha Mela . Before Brahmin are three women who come from pilgrimage. One of them has wet hair, which means that she came here after swimming in the waters of the Ganges, where Yamuna flows. This place is considered by Hindus to be exceptional good for the people. Brahmin offers a variety of services - saves the names of the pilgrims, checks the names of family members who visited Allahabad in the past. In addition, he takes a sacrifice for deceased ancestors. Calf of the cow is considered by some Hindus as a good guide to the world of the dead. In the background you can see the other pilgrims. This is done during the Kumbha Mela festivals that take place in Allahabad every 12 years (after 6 years is done Semi- mela ) . This is the most numerous festival in northern India, and Allahabad uniqueness lies in the fact that it lies at the point where the Yamuna flows into the Ganges. Place of merging of the waters, where there is a different colors of both water - is considered particularly beneficial for bathing during the Kumbha mela
