Object description:

Photo (scan from slide). A street leading to a shrine behind the main temple in Kedarnath / Himalayas. In the foreground you can see pilgrims (women) sitting at the back of the building. In the foreground, there is an ascetic yogi, and in the background you can see a sculpture of Shankaracharya - the figure of one of the greatest philosophers who died in Kedarnath in the 9th century CE. In the background you can see the high peaks of the Himalayas. Kedarnath is at the end of one of the roads leading north. There are no more inhabited places, and there are paths on which only ascetics walk.
