Object description:

Photo (scan from slide). The rural landscape in the region inhabited by the Warli tribe consists of rice fields and trees. The villagers of Devgaon cultivate rice and raise animals. The village is situated in a monsoon zone, hence the landscape is dominated by branchy trees and rich vegetation. The photo shows rice fields in the dry season, and in the background Mount Mahalakshmi, a sacred mountain in the minds of the tribe.
