The photo shows two festively dressed young women, standing with their bikes under trees. According to the owner of the photo, it depicts her mother (on the left) together with her best girl friend (…) (on the right). The photo was taken by an amateur photographer (…) The scene on the photo relates to a wedding episode when young people customary accompany the bride and the bridegroom to the church on festively decorated carts or bicycles; August 1946, Wawrzęcie Village near Cracow ; The photo sent to the contest “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly „Nowa Wieś” (New village). The copy of the photo in the possession of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute of the History of Material Culture)
