TY - GEN N1 - ill. ; 29 cm N2 - The paper discusses a practice of opening of graves which were recorded in the Wielbark Culture cemetery in Kowalewko. Proposals of interpretation which have been suggested so far were discussed and a new approach to the issue was put forward. It was debated to what extent archaeology would be able to answer a question of who and when disturbed graves. Furthermore, potential reasons behind the removal of artefacts which were deposited into the grave in the course of funeral rites were pointed out. This issue still requires further studies and a comparison against a broader cultural background. A Preliminary Analysis UR - http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/dlibra/publication/edition/63770 ER - TY - GEN N1 - ill. ; 29 cm N2 - Cemeteries of the Wielbark Culture are to a different degree affected by a practice of grave opening. The arrangement of bone remains in the grave is still a basic tool to assess the time interval between the burial and the interference. On the other hand, an assessment of the manner in which the dead body or the skeleton was treated is a premise for defining relationships between perpetrators of the disturb-ance and the dead. Thus, it can also inform us about intentions which motivated the perpetrators. In this paper it is attempted to discuss the necropolis in Czarnówko from this point of view. Research opportunities and limitations resulting from the state of preservation of archaeological sources were dealt with. Furthermore, findings were referred to other cemeteries of the Wielbark Culture. M3 - Text J2 - Fasciculi Archaeologiae Historicae. Treatment of Post-mortem Remains of the Dead in the Course of Post-funeral Interferences at Czarnówko in Pomerania UR - http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/dlibra/publication/120445 ER - TY - GEN N1 - ill. ; 29 cm N2 - The paper discusses results of research on grave opening in the cemetery of the Wielbark Culture in Czarnówko. It is based on excavation works which were carried out in 2017 and were aimed at preparing a precise documentation of trenches which disturbed burials. Additional support was offered by geomorphologic, anthracological, and anthropological analyses. An interdisciplinary approach offers a chance to provide answers to questions concerning the time and methods of post-funeral interferences at Czarnówko and in other cemeteries of the Wielbark Culture. In the next stage, issues concerning the aim (robbery or ritual) and the cultural identity of originators of grave disturbances can be addressed L1 - http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/Content/67446/PDF/WA308_87482_PIII149_How-much-do-we-knowI.pdf M3 - Text J2 - Przegląd Archeologiczny T. 66 (2018) PY - 2018 EP - 223 KW - Wielbark culture KW - Czarnówko KW - Roman period KW - grave opening KW - robbery KW - funerary ritual A1 - Skóra, Kalina PB - Instytut Archeologii i Etnologii Polskiej Akademii Nauk PB - Ośrodek Badań nad Kulturą Późnego Antyku i Wczesnego Średniowiecza VL - 66 CY - Wrocław SP - 193 T1 - How much do we know about the opening of graves in the cemetery in Czarnówko?
