TY - GEN N1 - ill. N1 - 24 cm N2 - The continuity of function that is locality determined forms the basis for the sustainability of communities. In this article, I study a community founded on a socio-professional relationship with the glassworks. We have been observing the indicators of wide-region acculturation since 1990. Field research verified the function of local culture in the glassworker colony. The changes of this function indicate adaptation, integration and regression within the community in question. The Utekáč glassworker colony was developing for nearly 300 years with fluctuating periods of vitality. The recent developments indicate a regression that disrupted the basic function of sustainability. The article presents ethnographical field notes regarding the traditional culture and the ethnological interpretation in socio-cultural adaptation periods. The time boundaries were the 19th century for adaptation and the 20th century for acculturation; the regression started at the dawning of the 21st century L1 - http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/Content/60566/PDF/WA308_78946_P714_Adaptacie-a-akultura_I.pdf M3 - Text J2 - Journal of Urban Ethnology 13 (2015) PY - 2015 EP - 98 KW - cultural adaptation KW - acculturation KW - glassworker colony KW - regression KW - habitus KW - traditional culture A1 - Murin, Ivan PB - Instytut Archeologii i Etnologii PAN VL - 13 CY - Kraków SP - 83 T1 - Adaptácie a akulturácia sklárskej kolónie Utekáč UR - http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/dlibra/publication/edition/60566 ER - TY - GEN N1 - 24 cm L1 - http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/Content/61157/PDF/WA308_76888_P327_Nic-mnie-serce-za-Ka_I.pdf M3 - Text J2 - Etnografia Polska 55 Z. 1-2 (2011) PY - 2011 IS - 1-2 EP - 178 KW - repatriation KW - Cultural adaptation KW - Sense of coherence KW - acculturation KW - identification KW - Culture shock A1 - Kość-Ryżko, Katarzyna PB - Instytut Archeologii i Etnologii Polskiej Akademii Nauk VL - 55 CY - Warszawa SP - 149 T1 - „Nic mnie serce za Kazachstanem nie boli…” Wyzwania akul-turacyjne polskich repatriantów z Kazachstanu UR - http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/dlibra/publication/edition/61157 ER - TY - GEN N1 - 24 cm N2 - Bringing up children abroad and their enculturation is an extraordinary difficult and complicated process. It is connected with numerous problems with which have to face their parents or foster-fathers who are responsible for their preparation to the living in the society. Among dilemmas standing before them are those associated with creating the cultural heritage of the young generation and constructing their identifications (ethnical, cultural, religious). This problems refers also to the refugees from Chechnya and asylum seekers from others Caucasian countries who have been living in Poland – both benefiting already from the international protection and applying only for the refugee status. The issues concerning their acculturation, adaptation and socialization of children are the subject of my research interests since 2009 when I’ve begun the research project granted by Polish National Centre of Science enabling the multi-sited field researches. N2 - In this paper I try to answer the crucial question: to which degree the identity of minors refugees is built from elements of the new culture (the host culture) which replace the patterns of their own culture („deconstructed identity”), and in which, from elements of the culture of their origin which are replicated in the present environment but in changed social-cultural context („reconstructed identity)”. These problems stay in the circle of the multicultural issues and the integration policy which becomes more and more current every year especially in the context of growing intense of global movement and radicalization of attitudes toward immigrants in Europe L1 - http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/Content/61310/PDF/WA308_80478_P327_Tozsamosc-de-konstru_I.pdf M3 - Text J2 - Etnografia Polska 59 Z. 1-2 2015 (2016) PY - 2015 (2016) IS - 1-2 EP - 29 KW - Refugees KW - asylum seekers KW - cultural adaptation KW - Fluent identity KW - Ethnic and culture identification KW - Enculturation KW - acculturation A1 - Kość-Ryżko, Katarzyna PB - Instytut Archeolgoii i Etnologii Polskiej Akademii Nauk VL - 59 CY - Warszawa SP - 5 T1 - Tożsamość (de-)konstruowana czy (re-)konstruowana? The realities often differ from the dreams and after arrival it turns out that everything is different, unknown-foreign. The reality is disappointing but the lack of alternatives is the starting point for the difficult process of cultural adaptation, which is not always successful. In 2000–2008 I conducted field research focused on the experiences of Poles returning from Kazakhstan to the homeland of their ancestors, who as a result of forced deportation to the USSR in the years 1936–1946 were abroad for many years. Their situation was extremely complicated and it was only after the year 1990 that repatriation became possible. Meanwhile, after their arrival to Poland they had to face a number of challenges, includ¬ing public debate about their identity and a questioning of their right to Polish self-identification. In the research it transpired that the “Polishness” of repatriates does not fit the romantic vision shared by some of their compatriots for whom they were too Soviet. The “uprootedness” experienced by the descendants of Poles deported from the country which they longed for many years was much more severe than the one they felt in Kazakhstan. In this paper I discuss a number of issues related to the impact of specific imaginations and expectations preceding their decision to migrate on their later life satisfaction and cultural adaptation L1 - http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/Content/61299/PDF/WA308_80390_P368_Identity-Dilemmas-of_I.pdf M3 - Text J2 - Ethnologia Polona 36 2015 (2016) PY - 2016 EP - 236 KW - repatriation KW - identity KW - cultural adaptation KW - acculturation KW - life satisfaction KW - Cantril’s Self- Anchoring Ladder A1 - Kość-Ryżko, Katarzyna A2 - Witkowska, Joanna - Tł.
