The representatives of almost all scientific trends in archaeology have attempted to reconstruct or interpret social groups in the past. I assume that we are dealing now with four main trends in archaeology: traditional archaeology, processual archaeology, neomarxist archaeology and archaeology inspired by postmodernism and poststructuralism. Within these trends various concepts describing social groups have been proposed. It is not possible to compare one another as each of these concepts has its ownset of rules and different language. The only method of assessment is to assess the utility and efficiency of the concepts. The most efficient should be the concept which reconstucts or interprets the fragment of past social reality in the most cohesive way. I perceive the development of various concepts of social groups within successive trends as continuity. Chronologically the earliest trends have developed only efficient methods of study. Later concepts have introduced social theory and submitted theexisting methods to it. Thus the latest concepts combining social theory with proper methods seem to be the most efficient}, type={Text}, title={Koncepcja grup społecznych i sposoby ich badania w archeologii procesualnej, postprocesualnej i neomarksistowskiej}, URL={http://www.rcin.org.pl/iae/Content/60374/PDF/WA308_79846_PIII272_Koncepcja-grup-spole_I.pdf}, keywords={social groups, social stratification, territorial groups, class}, }
