 abstract={This paper addresses issues raised by a paper published recently in this journal on the interpretation of symbolic graves in the Pomeranian culture, taking the opportunity to correct some inaccuracies presented there (Stepańczak et al. 2011). In particular, it shows that in some circumstances where small remains of human bone occur in graves they may be there by accident, without taking away from the symbolic character of such burial remains.
