 abstract={This article presents my reflections on the concept of a redneck (Polish: wieśniak, literally: peasant) in contemporary culture. Based on the analysis of memes and internet users’ comments from selected Polish websites, I try to find an answer to the question of why calling someone a ‘redneck’ is nowadays perceived as an insult. I also include my definition of this concept, which is based on the findings made during research. Referring to the literature, I explain why and when, in my opinion, the word took on clearly negative connotations},
