Abstract:

Considering the resemblance of immunological mechanismus between graft-reject-reaction and Experimental Allergic Encephalitie /E.A.E„/ our Ezperiment aimed at inducing a more durable tolerance in E.A.E. In our investigation, the rabbits received 6-Mercaptopurin intravenously, concurrently with the classical immunisation with brain suspension and Freund full adjuvant and for 18 days after. We hoped in this way to eliminate more effectively the specifio immunological clones. After stopping this drug the new sensibilisation of treated rabbits gave a much weaker response both from clinical and histological point of fiew than in control animals. The problems concerning the wider aignificance and the mechanism of the acquired tolerance needs futher conside-ration.
