Abstract:

The paper contains a list of the species observed in the years 1962-1978 in a 400 km2 area in the eastern part of Bory Tucholskie. The occurrence of 162 bird species was found including 122 breeding species. A comparison of the state of the avifauna with the DOBBRICK data from 70 years ago revealed the disappearance of 5 breeding species connected mainly with the forest habitat. However, 10 new species have appeared belonging to the group of species which have in the last few years been expanding their breeding area. Quantitative investigations were also carried out in 6 census plots, situated on clearings, in young pineforest and pine monoculture.
