The aim of this study is to develop formulae relating body weight and ambient temperature to metabolic rate for microtine rodents. This is important in order to understand their overall bioenergetics and thereby their population dynamics. Data on resting (RMR) and average daily (ADMR) metabolic rate for Microtus agrestis and M. arvalis are analyzed by regression techniques. A full model is constructed from the weight-terms W0.5, W2/3, W0.75, temperature and their second-degree combinations
