Title: O potrzebie uważności edytora, czyli uwagi warsztatowe na marginesie edycji listów Fryderyka Bacciarellego do Stanisława Augusta

Abstract:

The article discusses the bilingual edition of Federico Bacciarelli’s letters to King Stanisław August, written when the king lived in St Petersburg after his abdication from the Polish throne. It assesses the edition’s usefulness for researchers of the late eighteenth century and the period of Prussian occupation of Warsaw after the third partition of the Commonwealth in 1795. The basic elements of editing early modern sources are considered through a comparison of the edition with recommendations found in available editing manuals.A comprehensive assessment of the edition is conducted on the basis of this comparison.
