Description:

A work by Honacki et al. (1982) has been used as a basis for comparisons of ratios between number of genera/number of families (G/F), species/genera (S/G), and also, although to a lesser extent, the ratios between number of families/number of orders (F/O), and species/families (S/F) made for mammals of the World. 11 orders of mammals having their representatives in both parts of the World have been considered. The endemic taxa occurring in either of these two regions, and the taxa common to both regions have been distinguished.
