Description:

A description is given of the basic patterns of behaviour in the European bison, Bison bonasus Linnaeus, 1758, during the winter in the Białowieża Primeval Forest such as: feeding, drinking, eliminative behaviour, resting (lying and standing), grooming, walking, playing, sexual behaviour and cowcalf relationships. It was found that there is considerable similarity to the characteristics of behaviour in the American bison.
