Abstract:The study is devoted to a granular analysis of data. A new clustering algorithm has been developed to organize the data results into a collection of information granules - hyperbox. The structure of clusters is described. A number of indices describing hyperboxes and expressing relationships between such information boundaries are discussed. It is also shown how the resulting family of the information granules is a concise descriptor of the structure of the data – a granular signature of the data. The properties of the features that are manifested in the setting of the information granules were investigated. Numerical exeperiments are carried out based on two-dimensional synthetic data as well as multivariable Boston data available on the WWW.
