Abstract:

A biopsy from 7-week-old baby was taken and examined.Numerous miotube-like fibers of diameter smaller than normal and centrally located nuclei were observed. In the nuclei of these muscle fibers the phenomenon of separation the outer and inner nuclear membranes with the formation of perinuclear vacuoles was observed. Some fibers of normal diameter and sub-membranous located nuclei, characterized by the separation of the outer and inner nuclear envelopes with the formation of vacuoles adjacent to nuclei were seen. In some fibers, numerous vacuoles were present also in the cytoplasm. Myelinated and multiaxonal nerve fibers were visible in the biopsy. Conclusions: significant features of the immaturity of the muscular system with nuclear abnormali-ties were seen, what may suggest laminopathy.
