Th e Society sought to conduct an activity in the territories of three partitions on the basis of non-local delegates who sent in letters from the whole Galicia and other partitions, but also from outside the Polish lands. Tasks of delegates’ (usually enthusiasts amateurs) were to carry out surveys and take inventories of Polish monuments; they also tried, together with the Society, to make pioneering efforts to protect and conserve Polish cultural heritage.
