 abstract={The objective of this paper is to present the history of the distinctive fountain, popularly called “Pani Kowalska” and well-liked by Częstochowa’s residents, and its influence on the perception of urban space. The original design of the fountain was executed in 1964 by an architect Włodzimierz Ściegienny. Unfortunately, the fountain has lost its original character as a result of a remodeling project carried out in 2007. At present, although it still arouses vivid emotions and is one of the most recognizable elements of Czestochowa’s urban space, its form and the context of its public perception have taken on a different dimension. This paper is also intended to document one of the many previously unpublished designs by Włodzimierz Ściegienny, making use of materials originating from the private archive of this Częstochowa-based artist, whose oeuvre is aligned with representative examples of post-1945 Polish architecture.},
