 abstract={This text presents a probate inventory of Marcin Rozesław Brzeski, who held the office of a town clerk in Szydłowiec at the beginning of the 17th century. The document was drawn up in 1637 to secure the inheritance rights of his descendants. The register opens with a modest list of clothing, followed by a list of valuables and headgear belonging to the deceased, and concludes with information on valuable candlesticks, silver spoons, and items made of brass. Surprisingly, the inventory lacks data on other elements of the estate: real estate, cash, or financial obligations left behind by said official. In comparison with other burgher inventories from towns and townlets of Lesser Poland of that time, Brzeski’s register stands out because it enumerates weapons and contains an extensive list of books that were in his possession},
