This concept, described in the late 1960s by science-fiction writer dealing with the philosophy of culture Stanisław Lem, became an inspiration for historians dealing with the Middle Ages. It was introduced to the historical sciences by Stanisław Piekarczyk, in a form developed into an original model based on the theory of sets. Subsequently, this model was included in the assembly of archaeological methods by Stanisław Tabaczyński, who extended its references to material culture. The article presents the history of the concept of polysemantisation of culture, as well as the characteristics of model social groups of mono- or polysemantic culture. It also gives examples of the use of the concept of polysemantisation in the modern humanities}, type={Text}, title={Polisemantyzacja kultury – dzieje pojęcia}, URL={http://www.rcin.org.pl/Content/235432/270372.pdf}, keywords={polysemantisation of culture, monosemantic culture group, polisemantic culture group, methodology of archaeology, theory of sets, theory of literature, Stanisław Tabaczyński (1930–2020), Stanisław Piekarczyk (1924–1993), Stanisław Lem (1921–2006)}, }
