Status lacinaris. Arterio et arteriosclerosis gradu magno. Putrefactio Autopsy examination of 81-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin, Cresyl violet, Heidenhain and Van Gieson's method.No macrophage or gemistocytic reaction was observed in the basal nuclei. Gemistocytes were present only in the ependymal glia. Single starchy bodies were present between them. In the paraventricular region, thinning of the cell layer of the ependymal glia and partially of the fibrous layer was noticeable. The fibrous layer stained intensively with Holzer's method. One large and several small hemorrhagic foci were found in the midbrain, and no reaction was seen in the surrounding tissue. In the cerebellum, complete dissolution of the granular layer cells was observed with much better preserved Purkinje cells and Bergman's glial cells - putrefactive lesions were found. Extravasated blood present in the subarachnoid space. Marked atherosclerosis was observed in the large arteries and fibrous and vitreous lesions in the smaller arteries and arterioles. The long post-mortem period /72 h/ made the assessment of cellular changes and oedema impossible.}, title={File of histopathological evaluation of nervous system diseases (1965) - nr 13/65}, type={Text}, URL={http://www.rcin.org.pl/Content/197019/PDF/13_65.pdf}, keywords={Vascular disaeses - atherosclerosis}, }
