The social perception of a given hairstyle may be the result of the intended goal or an opinion independent of the person wearing it. I argue that in the latter case, the hairstyle is perceived through the prism of stereotypical images. I believe that certain hairstyles, depending on the political, historical or cultural context, can constitute an important element of individual identity. The paper uses the concepts of identity (Ardener 1992), personality (Mead 1975), interaction (Goffman 2010) and the assumptions of the anthropology of communication (Winkin 2007) to present the results of ethnographic research among people wearing dreadlocks conducted in 2016–2017}, type={Text}, title={Fryzura jako społeczno-kulturowy komunikat niewerbalny.
