 abstract={The paper focuses on the official coverage in the governmental Polish press – “Gazeta Rządowa Królestwa Polskiego” – of the contents of the key treaties concluded between Russia and China in the 1850s. In an introduction a general situational background is shown. The second part of the paper refers to the provisions of the Treaty of Kulja (5 July 1851), then focuses on the description of the Treaty of Aigun (28 May 1858), which is followed by the Treaty of Tianjin (13 June 1858). All that is concluded by a presentation of Russian interpre¬tation of intentions behind the signing of the treaties.},
