 abstract={This article presents research findings on the issue of “refugees” from the People’s Republic of Poland in 1987. It is primarily based on Polish diplomatic documents from the Min-istry of Foreign Affairs Archives in Warsaw, with supplementary materials from the Polish Insti-tute of National Remembrance. Italian archives from this period (held in the Archivio Centrale dello Stato in Rome) – apart from some documents from the Archivio Confederale della Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro Roma – are not yet available. The main research objective is to ana-lyse the attitudes of the Warsaw and Italian authorities towards the increasing influx of migrants from the People’s Republic of Poland to Italy. This analysis requires exploring the broader context of bilateral relations between 1980 and 1987. Additionally, it is important to outline the conditions that Poles faced while in Italy, particularly in refugee camps, to provide a clearer understanding of the situation.},
