Calcificationes vasorum globi pallidi. Atherosclerosis gradus mediocris. Autopsy examination of 67-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin, Holzer, Heidenhein and van Gieson and frozen sections stained with Bielschowsky method.Numerous multitemporal vascular foci were found in the brain. In the caudate nucleus there was a foci of malacia in the stage of advanced organization, with well-developed fibrous glia and still present in places macrophages with hemosiderin. A rather old focus with large tissue loss and locally activated fibrous glia in the periphery was present in the corpus callosum. Relaxation of the structure of the corpus callosum was observed. In the basal nuclei, especially in the putamen around the vessels, smaller and larger vacuolations with elements of thinned tissue, occasionally with single lymphocyte-like cells were seen, which corresponded to the status lacunaris. Within the corpus callosum and inner capsule, symmetrical calcifications of the adventitia of a larger caliber of vessels and capillaries were found. Cellular loss was evident in the cortex. The structure of the pons was dilated, with numerous dilated perivascular spaces and micro-necrosis. The vessels were atherosclerotic, with uneven wall thickness, partially vitrified.}, type={Text}, title={File of histopathological evaluation of nervous system diseases (1964) - nr 17/64}, URL={http://www.rcin.org.pl/Content/206037/PDF/17_64.pdf}, keywords={Vascular disease - encephalomacia}, }
