 abstract={Interval type-2 fuzzy logic can be applied to perform image processing and pattern recognition. In this work a new type-2 fuzzy logic method is applied for edge detection in images and the results are compared with traditional techniques for the same goal with the type-2 edge detection outperforming the other techniques. We also describe a method for pattern recognition that is based on interval type-2 fuzzy systems that is also shown to outperform type-1 fuzzy systems and other methods.},
