 abstract={A procedure for the preparation of activated sludge floes to study their internal structurewas presented. Sludge samples were stabilized, embedded in paraffin and sliced with a microtomeinto sections 7 pm thick. The microtome sections were stained with hematoxilyn eosin. Directmicroscopic observations of these sections proved that the micro-slicing technique employed inthis study may be a useful tool in the evaluation of the internal floe structure.},
