There are several versions of the biography of Jan Lewiarz, which do not make it possible to say whether he actually was or-dained a priest. However, he became one of the most important people in the Orthodox Church in Poland. His activity, joined with close cooperation with state authorities, led to the taking over of many properties and temples which belonged to the Greek Orthodox Church. Many of them became the basis for the creation of new Orthodox parishes in south-eastern Poland.}, title={„Ksiądz” Jan Lewiarz – organizator i odnowiciel Cerkwi prawosławnej w południowo-wschodniej Polsce}, type={Text}, URL={http://www.rcin.org.pl/Content/126874/PDF/WA303_158478_A507-DN-R-52-1_Misiolek.pdf}, volume={52}, number={1}, journal={Dzieje Najnowsze : [kwartalnik poświęcony historii XX wieku]}, publisher={Instytut Historii PAN}, keywords={Orthodox Church - Poland - history - 20th c., Catholic Church - Byzantine rite, Ukrainian - Poland - history - 1947-1970, Church and state - Poland - 1945-1970, Rzeszów (Poland ; region) - Church history - 1945-, Lewiarz, Jan (1903-1992), Lemkovyna, Greek Catholics, Orthodox churches, conversions}, }
