Institute of Organic Chemistry PAS

The Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences holds a high position, both nationally and internationally, in the field of chemical sciences. He conducts basic research in the field of broadly understood organic chemistry, which includes synthesis, structure studies, dynamics and spectral properties of organic compounds. In addition, the Institute conducts work in the field of organic technology and organic synthesis for industrial purposes, aimed primarily at the synthesis of drugs and other biologically active compounds.
The main research issues of the Institute are the methodology of organic synthesis, the study of reaction mechanisms, and broadly understood structural studies. The Institute actively cooperates with the pharmaceutical industry; developed, inter alia, 'Debelizyna' anti-nephrolithiasis preparation (manufactured by Herbapol Pruszków) and (together with TZF Polfa S.A.) two cephalosporin antibiotics: Tarcefoxim and Tarcevis. The Institute acquires funds for research. About 50 grants are implemented at the IPC PAS, including 3 SYMPHONY grants, 3 MAESTRO grants of the National Science Center and three TEAM grants of the Foundation for Polish Science. The Institute also carries out (or implemented) several large projects financed from structural funds. The most significant among them was the POIG project: "Sugars as renewable raw materials in the synthesis of products with high added value" implemented by a consortium led by the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The Institute's employees publish over 100 scientific papers annually; many of them appear in journals with a very high impact factor (IF). Several IChO employees have been honored with the highest scientific award in Poland: the Foundation for Polish Science Award, and several others with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of many national and foreign universities. The Institute of Organic Chemistry is among the elite group of institutions entitled to use the HR Excellence in Research logo.Currently, the Institute of Organic Chemistry (leader) is organizing an interdisciplinary doctoral school. The Institute belongs to category A of research institutions according to the ranking of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The Digital Repository of Scientific Institutes, in part implemented by the IPC PAS, includes Internet access to the texts of doctoral dissertations, scientific articles, research data of the Institute's employees. The result of the creation of the database, in addition to expanding the research workshop of scientists, are activities related to the popularization and archiving of documents. The database is created based on the provisions of the Copyright Law.The publications presented in the database are in Polish or English in PDF format.
