 abstract={The Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship stands out against other parts of the country in terms of its natural assets. Forest complexes, diverse land relief, abundant flora and fauna, but mainly numerous lakes make the region attractive to tourists. These results based on a survey study conducted among fishermen provide the basis for discussion concerning socioeconomic importance of fishing to the region and to the country. It is difficult to determine the effect of this form of exploitation of aquatic resources on the region’s development in recent years by means of presented results. One of the reasons is the difficulty in estimating the number of people who use the resources.},
