 abstract={The objective of this article is to choose strategy for the development of a selected commune (Rzekuń commune near Ostrołęka) using the multi-criteria decision analysis. These criteria are well known worldwide, but still underestimated in Poland. Rzekuń Community Development Strategy for the 2007–2011 period has already been completed. This means that the new strategy is highly recommended and should be developed as soon as possible. The objects of analysis are four variants ofstrategy which were considered in the twelve criteria’s (economic, social and environmental). Subsequently, the PROMETHEE method, which is one of the most popular MCDA methods, was used to evaluate and rank the variants. As a result of analyses, the variant of the development strategy has been selected, which assumes a transformation of the commune into a settlement-service character.},
