Abstract:

This paper concerns musical string instruments which are known from archaeological excavations in Poland. They are dated from the early middle ages (the oldest is from the end of the X century AD) to modern times (half of the XVI century AD). From the later times (XVI/XVII or first half of the XVII century AD) there is a representation on the discovered clay vessel which shows the play on the string instrument
