Abstract:

The article focuses on relations between faithful here on earth and those deceased. It describes the relations in categories of gift exchange since people who are alive have some obligation towards the departed. They should help them achieve Salvation. According to the teaching of the Catholic Church, all believers form a religious community which includes the earthly reality, souls in Purgatory and the community of the redeemed dwelling in heaven. All three ecumenes remain in deep contact, supporting each other by prayers. Spiritual solidarity between the community of the Church on earth and those members who are redeemed or are awaiting salvation is called "communion with the Saints" and it especially in folk religiosity it becomes a field for a gift exchange
