Description:

The photo depicts a woman and a man sitting in chairs in front of a house. There are seven children around them - three girls and four boys. Most of them are dressed in folk costumes. The youngest boy is sitting on a stool between the parents and is holding a cat on his lap. The woman is dressed in a dark blouse, a long striped skirt and a striped apron. The man is wearing a dark frock-coat, a waistcoat and a white shirt with a band collar, black trousers and long boots - "jack boots" and has a hat on his head. The girls are dressed similarly to their mother, although they have blouses with white collars and are wearing strings of beads. The youngest girl has a bright blouse. The boys are dressed in dark uniforms. The photo was taken in front of a n old timber house ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
